MERIT’s commitment to furthering the concept of community extends beyond the neighborhoods it manages. MERIT has contributed to making a difference with many individual organizations to strengthen local communities.
Along with its strategic partnership with United Way, The MERIT Companies is actively involved in local and regional efforts, including several adopted agencies. MERIT contributes to charitable organizations including Human Options, Vocational Visions, YMCA, Habitat for Humanity, Home Aid, Bell Tower Foundation, American Red Cross, City of Hope, and Ocean Institute.
 In recognition of MERIT’s efforts, the United Way has awarded The MERIT Companies with a Platinum Achievement Award, the Spirit of Orange County Company Award, a Golden Key Award and a nomination for an Excellence in Leadership Giving Award.
